You’re gonna have to get that replaced. Smoke pours out the window. Was that something? I don’t know. The street melts into Black, White, Pink, Yellow, Blue, Gold. Where your dreams lie, where he plays ball with his friends. You coming? 270 degrees, 360 degrees, 480 degrees, twisting, contorting, like a wrung cloth spurting— black, white, pink, yellow meld into a blur. In that instant, I was overcome with disgust. I open the door for some fresh air. The stove’s on. My son’s coming home for dinner, I think. Don’t you worry, everything’s going to be okay. Black, white, pink, yellow, orange, red, red, black, black black black black white.
